Part <\/span>of<\/span> the<\/span> event<\/span> was <\/span>the<\/span> Zoo and Wildlife Forum 2025 on <\/span>Thursday<\/span>, 19 June, at <\/span>the<\/span> Palace Hotel in Berlin. Under <\/span>the<\/span> motto<\/span> ‘<\/span>Committed<\/span> to<\/span> the<\/span> national <\/span>objective<\/span> of<\/span> species<\/span> conservation’<\/span>, <\/span>experts<\/span> from<\/span> science<\/span>, <\/span>politics<\/span> and <\/span>practice<\/span> came<\/span> together<\/span> to<\/span> discuss<\/span> the<\/span> challenges<\/span> and <\/span>opportunities<\/span> of<\/span> species<\/span> conservation<\/span> worldwide<\/span>. Two <\/span>chairmen<\/span> of our shareholder Frogs & Friends were present: Prof. Dr Fabian <\/span>Leendertz<\/span> (Head of the Ecology and Development of Zoonoses research group at the <\/span>Hemholtz<\/span> Institute in Greifswald) spoke about the importance of the One Health perspective and the close links between human and animal health. Saskia Kress (Managing Director of the Interactive Media Foundation and <\/span>Filmtank<\/span> GmbH Berlin, <\/span>and also<\/span> Deputy Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board at CC) contributed her <\/span>expertise<\/span> from communications work and <\/span>emphasised<\/span> the <\/span>central role<\/span> of public communication when it comes to getting people excited about species conservation. Dr Dag Encke, Director of the Nuremberg Zoo and a member of the Executive Committee of our host partner <\/span>VdZ<\/span>, also took part in the discussion, as did Prof. Dr Daniel Haun (Director at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig), who spoke from a <\/span>behavioural<\/span> biology perspective. Renowned moderator and biologist Lothar Frenz led the discussion. It became clear from the presentations and discussions that effective species conservation can only be achieved through a joint and interdisciplinary approach. We were particularly pleased that several speakers <\/span>emphasised<\/span> the importance of citizen conservation, as we also involve committed citizens <\/span>to save<\/span> endangered species from extinction.
